Why are we interested in the things we don’t understand? Because we are young, wild and free. There is a mystery in the art, like horror movies and weird myths it captures a certain feeling to want to know more. It’s that same drive you get when you are in class and all of a sudden, the teacher says something that you can’t help but to ask why? Why? Why? Over and over again.in a museum you can’t do that. You can’t ask why? You are left with your own method. If you are in a museum and you look at a painting and you think, I have no idea what this means. You walk around and can’t focus because that painting from before is still in your head and you are wondering why? So you go home and you go on Google, you find the artist and read why he made it and then it all makes sense. The painting may seem happy and simple but in the end it could be something sad and crazy that you would have never expected.
There was a gallery at the museum for fashion, before walking in I thought I was going to see paintings and simple things with clothing and just the general thing you think. When I walk through that door there were chains and bells all of them were draped down as if they were curtains on both sides. Glasses hanging a bag that looked like a person could fit in it. Like fashion rain I describe it as. You walk deeper into the room dark music is playing and you see videos of things that are like dark and mysterious it’s all very black and dark. Of course there a few pieces that were garments but it was surprising that I was more interested in the abstract part of the gallery. Maybe because I wanted to get a deeper meaning into what they were saying. its so frustrating to know you dont know something! i think we all can relate. maybe thats why sarah decided to move to chicago. to see the real city in wich she read about.
There was a painting that was in the exhibit for fashion called Boudicca and the painting was called, part bunny part girl. It was a girl’s body with a bunny head in this meadow field full of color. I didn’t understand it and now I can’t find it. I’m very upset. it feels like i wont ever see it again except if i go back. i will go back no doubt about it i want to know more.
